We are the Church
The We Are The Church group was formed in 2002 to help support the victims of abuse by priests in the Diocese of Dallas. In the process we also supported victims worldwide. We picketed the Chancery supporting the resignation of Bishop Grahmann due to his failure to protect victims. We placed online his testimony from the liability trial in 1997 related to the abuse by Fr. Rudy Kos whom he allowed to remain in a parish abusing for a year after a child abuse expert had declared Rudy Kos to be a "textbook pedophile." The abuse continued for 11 months after that statement was made. A transcript of that trial remains online at http://www.bishop-accountability.org/tx-dallas/ with the testimony by Bishop Grahmann.
Our group dissolved in about 2007 and the original web site is no longer active. Hopefully the protection of children has reached a more advanced state and we will never again repeat the pain inflicted on children in the past by Church staff.
Sadly, the level of transparency needed to most safely protect our children is still absent. If ever achieved it will then need constant vigilance. It is strongly recommended that all concerned citizens support the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, SNAP, at http://www.snapnetwork.org/. They are working to more fully insure the ongoing protection of children by full transparency within all organizations who claim an affiliation with the Church, and within the Church.
